A ROTI-Aided Equatorial Plasma Bubbles Detection Method

In this study, we present a Rate of Total Electron Content Index (ROTI)-aided equatorial plasma bubbles (EPBs) detection method based on Global Navigation Satellite System (GNSS) ionospheric (TEC). This technique seeks the EPBs occurrence time according to ROTI values and then extracts detrended TEC series, which include signals using low-order, partial polynomial fitting strategy. The over Hong Kong area during year 2014 were detected technique. results show that temporal distribution are consistent with previous reports, most depletion error is smaller than 1.5 TECU (average 0.63 TECU), suggesting feasible highly accurate. Furthermore, can extract series more effectively, especially for those long duration, compared method.
